Sumenep, Jawa Timur (ANTARA) – Pemerintah Indonesia melalui Kementerian Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif akan berupaya memaksimalkan potensi wisata alam, sejarah dan ekonomi kreatif di Kabupaten Sumenep, Jawa Timur.
Selain potensi wisata alam, Sumenep memiliki potensi wisata sejarah atau budaya, dengan keraton dan Masjid Jamik Sumenep yang dapat menjadi ikon destinasi, kata Menteri Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif Sandiaga Uno pada Forum Diskusi Pengembangan Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif Madura Raya di Sumenep, menurut keterangan pers yang dikeluarkan pada hari Sabtu.
“Saya ingin Madura Raya di-rebranding, tidak ada masalah bahwa Madura dikenal sebagai penghasil garam. Namun, saya ingin rebranding Madura sebagai pulau kreatif. Pulau yang berkembang menuju masyarakat yang mandiri, sejahtera, adil, dan makmur,” jelasnya.
